Never use Assurant

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had a policy with Assurant for my cell phone's. 8 year customer with T-Mobile.

Had the first claim due to phone getting wet due to a child falling in a pool. Received a replacement that was a refurbished phone! The phone on the claim was 3 months old. Next, I put the damaged phone in the envelope that came to return it.

Dropped it in the mailbox at the lost office, per instructions from Assurant. Now they tell me they never received my returned phone and i owe full price for the new phone! I didn't take it inside to have the enveloped scanned. Huge mistake!

I have called the post office 4 times, they say Assurant has the phone. Assurant says they never received it and won't do a search, that it's the post office that lost it. So now I owe an extra $600 for a phone i dont have and am stuck with a refurbished piece of junk. I can't get anyone to help me and have even talked to a supervisor at Assurant who said that I can't prove I mailed it, so it's my problem.

So whatever scam they are doing cost me $600 plus the worthless monthly fees.

Never again. And I'm cancelling my 8 year service with T-Mobile for doing business with such a lousy company.

Received replacement that wouldn't charge or turn on

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Received replacement that wouldn't charge or turn on. In the box it has a slip stating that had been "tested for full functions R/2 Ready for Reuse" and a stamp in the box stating "quality assured #15".

I called to let them know it doesn't work. They email a new shipping label to return that phone and advised that once the device shows it's shipped from the shipping label provided it will trigger the new phone to be overnighted. I did not receive the new phone the next day. I then called to advise that I didn't receive it.

I was then told that it would take 3-4 business days for IT to review the ticket and release confirmation that the 2nd replacement could be sent. At that point I requested that I speak with a supervisor. The supervisor explained that their system automatically triggers the system to send it to Apple Care before triggering the system to release the knew phone & there was nothing she could do. I explained that this is an emergency phone and was already needed, and that my daughters wellbeing was at stake.

She then responded with "I'm sorry I wish there is something different I can tell you. There's no way to trick the system to trigger it to send it out early." I rebuttaled with it's not early. It's going on 4 days late, and now I'm told it's going to be a week and a half. I already paid my $175 to get a phone that didn't work.

Now I have to wait and risk my daughters safety because we were sent a faulty phone that has two statements saying it works. I requested that a phone be expedited. I was told there isn't a way to make that happen. I requested to speak with the supervisors manager.

She responded with you are welcome to talk to them, but they are going to tell you the same thing. At which point I restated that my daughters safety has already been jeopardized and I needed the phone. I only got an apology at which point I ended the call. *when I initially took the phone in US Cellular sent me to Apple Care to fix the phone.

Apple Care then sent me back to US Cell saying its hardware issues. Then Assurance tells me it needs to send it to Apple Care. When I was at Apple Care they showed me their insurance plan side by side to Assurance's plan. Apple covers way more.

The Apple rep advised that next time they recommend adding Apple Care when purchasing a new device so I can have all plus more coverage for my cell. After seeing the trend of everything keep getting sent back to Apple Care I will NEVER choose anything but Apple Care!

Assurant Warranty and L G Appliance Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Called LG for dishwasher repair which was out of warranty. After waiting 5 days for L G Service tech to show, he arrived and says issue was diagnosed as bad installation.

Was not at my home for more than 8 minutes, never even removed a tool out of his tool bag. Paid $95.40 for 1/3 of the total cost of a " out of warranty " service call. Another service company diagnosed the problem and advised it was a bad drain pump. Appliance was repaired by others.

tried to credit back to my C Card for $95.40 , was advised by Assurant that it was processed on 8-28-2017. Credit never showed, filed dispute with credit card company. Was then advised that minimum service" diagnostic " fee was $100.00. No refund due.

Bait and switch by both L G and Assurant.

Stay away from both . Rip off

I had a similar experience. Through the LG web site paid for out of warranted refrigerator repair and received an appointment.

No repair man. Called, they denied ever receiving an appointment.

couldn't reschedule for 4 days. Went through LG web site, got appointment next day, different company. They came, repaired refrigerator.

Left message to Assurance phone number, they came anyway, of course nobody was home and refrigerator was already repaired. Will contact Visa to get money back.

2 Damaged Phones in 2 weeks time

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Does Assurant really cares about the customers. I am without my cell phone for 2 weeks now. Assurant send me a damaged phone for the first time, I send the phone back had to wait for one more week for the second phone to come back. The second phone is damaged too, Are you guys really trying customers patience? Assurant does not even care of testing the phone before sending it to the customers. They do not have a good customer service and follow the same process instead of listening to the customers complaints. Suggestion: Atleast test the phone before sending it to the customer. Thanks

I'm having the same trouble with Assurant. Luckily mine is still under warranty with LG.

When I finally found out by accident that Assurant wasn't going to cover the repairs, I called LG & they are.

Never trust Assurant. They are a waste of money.

Device Claim

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I filed a claim with Assurant after my daughter dropped her phone and cracked the screen. I paid my $175.00 deductible, which I thought was exorbitant, but it’s not like I have a choice.

Assurant overnighted a phone to me, which was great. I was told I would be receiving a new phone, however, after seeing it, it was clearly refurbished. A week after I had it activated, the phone stopped taking a charge. I took the phone into US Cellular and they told me that the phone was defective and that I needed to return it to Assurant.

I called Assurant shortly thereafter. Apparently, receiving a defective phone is so prevalent that it is an option on their automated phone system. When I spoke with someone, they told me that they will not send a new phone until I send the old one back. Despite the fact that when I filed the original claim they overnighted the new (refurbished) phone to me before I returned the damaged one.

I was told, because I’m not paying the $175.00 deductible this time, they don’t overnight a new phone. My understanding is that when I paid my $175.00 deductible, I was getting a working phone. So I was taken aback when I was told this. Now I have to send the defective phone back, then wait for them to review it, and if I’m lucky, fix it or send me another *** phone, which means my daughter will be without a phone for over a week.

This company has terrible customer service, which they can get away with since US Cellular customers and customers of other carriers don’t have a choice of phone insurance companies.

Therefore, they can charge whatever they want for a deductible and provide whatever defective phones they feel like. Further, from what I can tell this is an unregulated industry, which makes matters even worse for customers.

Bad service call

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If you live in New Jersey this is firm you should never use. Called for service and they give the service call to a New York firm, who than give it to New Jersey firm. The NJ firm has NO PART AND MUST ORDER VERY PART NEEDED. Next the NJ firm are always late. All the better service firm will not del with Assurant because they under pay. Once my contract is up I will not review with them. One of the item we had under service with 4 years left they would not repair. They gave us $140.00 to buy a new washer which costed $600.00. The year left on the contract they would give us a refund which cost more than the $140.00 gave us.

Assurant Solutions does not fix your appliance even if it's the first claim you have ever made after years of paying for coverage

Assurant Solutions does not fix your appliance even if it's the first claim you have ever made...

We have paid for coverage on our washer and dryer since we purchased them 11 years ago. This is the first time we have ever made a claim and they sent a repair man out to my house, he diagnosed the problem and they approved the repair.

They come today and completely tear my washer apart, I have pieces of washer all over my basement! ( mind you the washer was washing. Clothes last night!) it still worked. As they got the washer all apart they discovered that the drum was also bad, now this changes the price so they submit for the price difference and the claim is originally decided that they would fix it but they would have to send someone else out to fix it .

Because as it turns out the drum is a life time warranted part that only a certified servicer of kitchen aid can obtain completely free of charge from the company. Yet the repair company they sent are not certified servicers of the appliance they knew I had. They had the make, model and serial number of my appliance and they send someone who isn't authorized to fix it! I contacted kitchenaid to see if I could get the drum since it was a lifetime warranted part.

They agreed to send me the drum but then informed me that since someone who wasn't certified to repair the washer tore it apart it now voids the manufacturers warranty on my washer!!! Assurant left my washer in hundreds of pieces in my basement and have now decided that they will pay me 447.00 for it! After they have taken almost 1500.00 from me over the years to cover an appliance that they have never had to do anything to, the representative of the company was rude and unprofessional and told me that because the other part that was bad was a warranted part they wouldn't pay for it. I can understand that but they should be able to easily get the part from the manufacturer and other than the part itself it cos t no more labor to replace it because it had to be removed to get to the part they agreed to fix to begin with!

Representative from assurant refused to let me speak with anyone above him or the claims department that made the choice! *** beware they have no problem taking your money but they won't pay out on claims!!!

You can bet they knew your washer had to be fixed by a certified KitchenAid repairman and that it would void your warranty.

Assurant - Cell Phone Claim Review

Why on earth do you require the IMEI number when making a claim. You clearly missed three major things. 1) If your phone is broken or lost you cannot get into it. 2) an Iphone only has the IMEI in the settings of a touch screen phone with no other buttons. 3) If my phone is broken or lost how the *** am I suppose to call in the get the number. Someone obviously dropped the ball hardcore on this one. This causes so much headache and I do not know what you expect that I go to a store or my neighbors and ask to use their phone? The whole point of this process is to get a broken phone fixed or replaced so don't expect people to be able get information from them.

You can get the IMEI from the receipt for the device, the box, your T-Mobile account etc. You aren’t helpless..

I have not received a response.

I asked for a refund of this plan as it does not cover what it is stated in the policy. I have submitted a request for refund through ebay.

I spoke to Crystal at the company. I was told that accidental damage is not covered.

The band broke. In what way did I misuse a defective band when I put it on and it falls off?

I contacted the seller first and they said to go through Assurant.

The assurance plan stated it covers this. The wording says "accidental damage." How is a band coming off would be anything but accidental?

Original review Feb 03, 2017
Assurant Solutions is an unethical company that should investigated for nonpayment to rightful claims. Would not accept claim on broken watch band that caused watch to stop working when it fell off. Happened first time I wore it. Policy stated it covered "accidental damage."

Frustrating on both parts.

GE dishwasher would not start. Called Assurant on a Wednesday. Got an appointment with a repair guy for that Friday. Had an 8:00-5:00 window for the appointment. Called the provider on Thursday to try to narrow that time down but had to leave a voice mail message. No call returned. Took Friday off from work. Called the provider at 9:00 and was told he is not in our area on Friday and Assurant should not have given me an appointment. He had an opening on the following Tuesday. I did not book that since I wanted to check in with Assurant. Called Assurant and when I was finally able to talk to a human asked to speak to a supervisor. On hold for 15 minutes and oops-got disconnected. I secretly think they are hoping you get frustrated and hang up. So called back and again on hold but this time able to speak to a floor manager. Told him the problem and all he kept saying is that the provider had an opening on Friday since they would not have scheduled me unless it showed up in their system. I wanted some answers but he kept repeating his story and was talking over me and not very polite. He did offer me another appointment for a day when the provider was in our area. I wanted him to check out what happened so that it doesn't happen again. No satisfaction whatsoever with this guy so asked to speak to anyone other than him. Again on hold till consumer relations person picked up. She repeated what the manager said and I repeated that I took a day off work, did not want an appointment for the following Tuesday (another day off work), but wanted to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else with this provider. She informed me that it was on the end of the provider who must not have updated his area and profile. Well if this provider is, in essence, a representative of the Assurant company, don't you think they would want to make sure everything is satisfactory? I asked the customer relations woman to send me an email when she contacts the provider to see what happened. She said she would but not going to hold my breath. Now I am in the process of researching other appliance warranty companies and if I decide to switch will ask for full refund from Assurant. I was told that was within my rights. I do have to lay some blame on the provider since I did not receive a return call on Thursday. Voice mail should have been checked then. And if what Assurant says is true, his information needs updating.

This company does not expeditiously process complaints, and seemingly prolongs the claims process I will cancel this service once (if) I ever receive a new phone from this company. I've been trying to file a claim for 3 days to no avail.

Even the people at the t-mobile store agreed that the process should not be this difficult.

After 3 days, 3 visits to the t-mobile store, and no less than 7 phone calls to this company, I still have no answers regarding my claim and when I go online it says that the claim is no longer being processed! I will go through apple store and file lost/stolen phone will my homeowners insurance.
